Areas of expertise
I am a restoration ecologist. I finished my PhD at the Universidad de Alcalá and the Spanish Research Council (CSIC) in 2008. As a postdoc, I spent three years at UC Berkeley, two at Stanford University as the Jasper Ridge Restoration Fellow, and one at the Centre d´Ecologie Fonctionelle et Evolutive - CNRS in Montpellier, France. Since 2014, I am an Ikerbasque Research Fellow at the Basque Centre for Climate Cahnge - BC3. I am interested in the recovery of ecosistems after anthropogenic disturbances with especial emphasis on wetlands and forests. I aim to understand patterns of recovery of complex ecosystem attributes (e.g. interaction networks or evolutionary potential) . In my research, I use empirical field-collected data and meta-analyses to understand and accelerate the processes of ecosystem recovery in the context of restoration.
