I am a junior research group leader at the University of Regensburg interested in demography as the basis for population and community ecology and an important driver of geographical distribution of species and communities. In our research, we use dynamic approaches to investigate biotic interactions, ecosystem productivities, range limits as well as responses to climate change and human activities. To this end, we combine empirical and simulation models with data assimilation techniques. In particular, we study forest ecosystems, but we are also interested in other systems and organisms.
